Improving the Indoor Air Quality for Our Clients
As we talked about in the last blog post, there are many benefits of building a modular home. And you may have noticed that one of the areas that we did not focus on is the energy efficiency of a modular home.
The environmental impact and the overall energy efficiency of a modular home is one of the most talked about benefits of building modular. And it is true that recently we have produced many homes that undergo testing to receive the Energy Star label.
But not every one of our clients is the same! And that means that not every modular home we build is the same with the level of energy efficiency.
We enjoy the thrill of designing and creating a unique home that fits the home owner’s design wants and comfort needs. Each new client presents us with a challenge to continue to improve our craft of building custom modular homes. So we don’t want to spend too much time talking about the overall energy efficiency of the home when not every home is the same. Instead, we want to focus on the other unique elements that might make building a modular home the right option for your next home.
Let’s take a look at a home that we built for one of our amazing clients. We placed a lot of focus on the overall air quality of the home by including additional features and paying attention to details to qualify under the Department of Energy’s Zero Ready Home Program. As a result, we were able to help protect the homeowners from additional risks to moisture and mold, pests, pollutants, and other natural concerns. Our low-VOC products used in an Indoor airPLUS qualified project mean that those homeowners will not experience a “new home smell” that can aggravate allergies and cause other problems.
At the end of the design build, the home meets the requirements to receive an Indoor airPLUS qualification, and a HERS 41 Energy Rating. This included reducing the Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emission by 4.4 tons per year, Sulfer Dioxide (SO2) by 1.5 pounds per year, and Nitrogen Oxides(NOx) by 10 pounds per year compared to a typical home.
The Indoor airPLUS qualification is just one of the many options that we provide to our clients. For more information on how we improve the overall indoor air quality of your home, please give us a call at (732)-854-1985 or request to set up an appointment on our Contact page.
